Background
This article is designed to aid in responding to data inquiries received through EMR Help. Queries can be crafted in either the PROD environment or the Profile EMR QI environment. The following list of questions is intended to assist in determining the appropriate environment for creating queries.
Upon receiving a data pull request, the first step involves reviewing existing stored queries to determine if the request can be satisfied using an available query.

Thank you for reaching out. To better support your data request, kindly provide the following details:
- Describe and provide reason for the data request.
- Who will be viewing the data?
- Describe your team’s workflow that would assist in pulling the appropriate data.
-
Clarify whether the request is for a one-time data pull, a recurring scheduled data pull, or a stored query that can be run at any time.
-
- If one-time data pull, who should the data be delivered to?
- If scheduled data pull, who should the data be delivered to and at what frequency?
-
If stored query, specify the requested environment for the query - Production or QI?
- If QI, list clinic users who has access to QI
-
- Outline the required columns for the result.
Your cooperation in providing this information will help us to process your request accurately.
Best regards,

QI Query - Template
Hello <Requestor's Name>,
Thank you for reaching out.
It is our recommendation to review the existing Stored Queries to ascertain if one would meet your requirements. Please look through the alphabetized queries at the bottom of the Stored Queries listing, as well as the folders entitled:
- Operational Reports – Admin
- Operational Reports – Clinical
The attached documents Profile EMR – Find Objects Queries and IntraHealth Help File – Find Objects Queries are available to assist in building queries in Profile EMR QI.
Problem-based learning is available through ad-hoc sessions, specifically for folks who are working through building their own queries in the QI environment. Dr. Stan DeVlaming and one of the Profile EMR developers are providing these sessions on an ad hoc basis. Contact EMRHelp@vch.ca to put your name on a list, or to request an invite for the next planned session.
Best regards,
Note: Attachments mentioned in the template are also available on the Profile EMR QI SharePoint Site.
Appendix: Live Stored Query - Excel Export Supplementary Role
This role is used to support users who require access to export data from Live Stored Queries into Excel format. It is typically assigned to users who are responsible for reviewing or analyzing data outputs from stored queries but do not require full query-building permissions.
Key Points:
- This role does not allow users to create or modify stored queries
- It enables users to run existing stored queries and export the results to Excel
- Requests for this role should be submitted as a Standard Order Request with justification for access
