Background

The Signing Group Enhancement feature had been introduced in Profile EMR version 8.4 to improve the Unsigned Transactions base filter as users were overwhelmed by the long list of All Permitted clinicians and found it tedious scrolling down the list to select each Clinician.

This feature allows users to only view the Unsigned Transactions of those who are added to the Signing group list. The Signing Group will appear in the Assigned base filter and will be visible to the users assigned to it.

The Signing Group functionality is a simple function that is best recommended for small teams with minimal staff turnover, such as a group of NPs.

Administrative Considerations

  • Signing Group user list needs to be maintained and be kept up to date
  • Designate a Super User to manage the Signing Group User list via Group Management Tool
  • Low frequency for Adding/Removing Users
  • Risk of missing Unsigned Transactions if a user is not added to the selected Signing group

Create and Add Users to a Signing Group

System Administrator has full access to create/remove/modify Signing Groups. 

  1. Navigate to Organization > People & Places
  2. Click on the Add Icon and select Signing Group from the list

  3. In the New Clinician – Signing Group window, specify a Code and Name to use
    The name will be visible to the users enabled for the Signing Group in Unsigned Transactions' Assigned field

      Code Name
    Naming Convention POS Code-SIGN# Group Name + Signing Group
    Examples PEN1-SIGN1
    SOM-SIGN2    		 PEN1 Signing Group
    SOM SU Signing Group
  4. Click on Add button to add members to this list.
  5. Enter the User Name or Code into the field and click Search
  6. Highlight the user and click OK

  7. Repeat Steps 4-6 for the remaining users that you want to added to the Signing Group

Note1: All users need to be added individually (adding groups will not work)

Note2: Only users can be added to Sign Incoming Transactions grants (adding groups will not work). Therefore, locums should be added to both Signing Groups if they will be covering COD for both teams.
